Description of the Steamboat Springs Driving Tour:
MORNING — Westies from the Grand Junction area will meet up with the Roaring Fork Westies in Glenwood Springs. We will then drive east on I-70 to Wolcott (Exit 157), picking up the Avon/Vail Westies. We then drive north on Hwy 131 towards Steamboat Springs with a brief stop in Yampa to meet up with the Front Range drive groups.
Note: Our group must depart the “Bellyache Ridge Park & Ride” (301 Bellyache Ridge Road, Edwards, CO 81632) no later than 10:15am in order to meet up with the Front Range drive group in Yampa (Sinclair Gas Station, 16065 CO-131, Yampa, CO 80483).
DRIVERS MEETING — Our driving tour officially starts at Tequila's Mexican Restaurant parking lot (132 W 6th St, Glenwood Springs, CO 81601), meeting PROMPTLY at 09:00am. All participants will be verified of registration, all must have completed a PCA tour event waiver and everyone attend a drivers' meeting at 09:10am.
LUNCH — All run groups will meet for lunch in Steamboat Springs at Fiesta Jalisco (455 Anglers Dr, Steamboat Springs, CO 80488). Fiesta Jalisco will provide a special menu for the luncheon including 5 different entree choices, sides and soft drink included in the registration fee. Any additional drinks or desserts will be the responsibility of the participant. The luncheon will conclude around 1:30pm.
AFTER LUNCH — After lunch Westies will depart Steamboat Springs headed to Craig, CO via US 40 West, then on to Meeker, CO via State Hwy 13. We will stop briefly in Meeker for a fuel and bio break. We continue south, briefly stopping in Rifle to say our good-byes and part ways. Grand Junction/Palisade Westies will drive west on I-70, while the rest will drive east to Glenwood/Avon/Vail.
MILEAGE — Depending where you start and end this driving tour, mileage is ~275 miles.
