The MotoAmerica Virginia International Raceway 2026 event is scheduled for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 14 - 16 August, 2026

Please download and view the following document for information regarding the MotoAmerica Marshal and Volunteer Program:

MotoAmerica Marshal and Volunteer Program Ver 2.2.pdf

There are paid and unpaid (volunteer) positions available for this event.

Flag and Track Marshals are eligible for pay. If you register for a paid position, then it is a request to be paid. It is not a guarantee. Eligibility for pay is based the number of days that you are registering for (all three days is much preferred), your marshaling experience, and your registration date. You may also register for Flag or Track marshal positions as a Volunteer.

Paid Flag and Track Marshals receive monetary compensation in the amount of $140 per day, a parking pass, and a camping pass.  Compensation will be from MotoAmerica.  Paid marshals will be asked to submit an IRS Form W-9 (2025) if the marshal's compensation total from MotoAmerica for the year is greater than $600. If for any reason you cannot submit a Form W-9, then please register as a volunteer.

Note: A two-day commitment is required (Saturday and Sunday - race days) for paid Course Marshals for this event. We much prefer a three day commitment. If we are over-subscribed, then paid marshals registered for all three days of the event will be given priority.

For Paid Marshals: all meals, beverages, ice, etc. during the event are your responsibility and will not be provided by MotoAmerica, with one exception – the Marshal and Volunteer Dinner on Saturday evening. Paid Marshals are a very important part of our community and are therefore invited to the Saturday dinner!

There are other VOLUNTEER positions available - Grid Marshal, Tire Control Marshal, and Hospitality Volunteer.  These positions are volunteer (unpaid) positions only. There are significant benefits that come along with serving as a volunteer.  Volunteering for these positions represents:

"The ticket that you cannot buy!"

All VOLUNTEERS (unpaid) are entitled to meals and beverages at MotoAmerica hospitality, a parking pass, a camping pass, MotoAmerica SWAG, and one 3-day guest pass. There will be a designated camping area for all marshals and volunteers at the event. There is no fee to camp in this area. The free camping area does not have electrical or water hook-ups. A camping space with hook-ups can be reserved for a fee.  Restroom facilities, with showers, will be available for all campers.

A summary of the benefits that we provide is in this table:

Note: A two-day commitment (Saturday and Sunday minimum) is required for this event as a volunteer and to be eligible for the volunteer benefits listed in the table above.

All marshals and volunteers are invited to the Saturday evening dinner at MotoAmerica Hospitality. The dinner will be shortly after the last race of the day has been completed and the track is cold. We will host one or more celebrity guests from the paddock for a short talk followed by Q&A.

Basic requirements for all positions:

  • Experience is not mandatory, but marshals with proven experience will be given priority.
  • The minimum commitment for all volunteers is two days.  For Flag and Track Marshals, Tire control Marshals, and Hospitality volunteers, a three day commitment is much preferred.  The commitment required for Grid Marshals is two days - Saturday and Sunday race days only.

Clothing:

  • Flag & Track marshals should wear white pants and a white shirt. (see picture below as an example). International orange is an acceptable alternative.
  • Tire Control Marshals and Grid Marshals should wear dark long pants, a white shirt, and closed toe shoes.
  • All Marshals must wear sleeved shirts/tops, long pants and closed toe shoes. Sleeveless tops, short pants, sandals or flip flops are not allowed.
  • Hospitality volunteers - please dress as you like. Your position is often the most intense and most appreciated volunteer position with MotoAmerica.  THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
  • Rain Gear:
    • MotoAmerica Professional Motorbike Roadracing is a "rain or shine" sport, so please bring rain gear!
    • Please do not wear any rain gear or top layer clothing with red and/or yellow coloring.  White, clear, black or navy-blue rain gear is preferred.  Other colors may also be acceptable so long as they do not resemble marshal flags.
  • PPE (Personal Protective Equipment): Flag and Track Marshals should bring high quality gloves, hearing protection, hat/sunshade, and other PPE

Completion of a liability waiver (speedwaiver) is required for this and all MotoAmerica events. A mobile phone is required to complete the speedwaiver.

All travel related expenses are the responsibility of the Marshal/Volunteer.
