Thank you for registering for our MSF Level 2 Class at Pocono Raceway 5/2-5/3.

Registration Requirements. Please read this carefully!

• A minimum of 50 completed track days across a variety of tracks.

• Current participation in the advanced run group (or equivalent top-level/solo group).

• A referral from a Head Coach or Chief Instructor at a recognized national HPDE organization (e.g., PCA, NASA, Chin, BMW CCA, etc.).

• MSF 1 Successful completion.

• Approval from both of the Chief Instructors at Hooked On Driving Northeast Track Days. This approval can be withheld by the HOD Chief Instructors if we deem your driving history to be insufficient in time or breadth even if you meet the 50-day criteria. We can allow you to take the class with the understanding that you will achieve a provisional status and must work as a coach at our events as explained below in the HOD Provisional Coach Status outcome.

Please reply to this email with your resume attached, highlighting your driving experience—such as total track days, tracks attended, run groups, any prior instructing or mentoring roles, certifications (including MSF Level1), and relevant competitive or organizational involvement. This will allow us to review your qualifications and move forward with your application.

If approved to take the course, please know that there are three possible outcomes when taking our MSF2 course. Here's a clear breakdown of what each outcome means:

1. Full MSF2 Certification: You perform exceptionally well during the class, meet all evaluation criteria, and get fully endorsed. This results in your official listing on the MSF Level 2 Registry, with us (Hooked On Driving Northeast Track Days) as the certifying body that verified your skills. This is the top-tier outcome: nationally recognized credentials allowing you to instruct at events with many HPDE clubs, organizations and tracks across the U.S. that accept MSF Level 2 certification. We would answer any requests by Chief Instructors asking to verify your status. This is reserved for drivers with extensive history with us or drivers who already have coach/instructor status with nationally recognized clubs and are seeking MSF 2 Qualification.

2. Unsuccessful Completion: If you don't meet the passing standards (e.g., issues with in-car instruction, safety awareness, teaching ability, etc.), you won't earn the certification or registry listing. There is no permanent penalty—you're encouraged to retake the class later at no cost after gaining more experience or addressing the gaps. This is standard for rigorous hands-on programs like MSF Level 2.

3. HOD Provisional Coach Status: This is a middle-ground or conditional pass. You complete the class successfully enough to pass the core requirements, but the coach mentors and/or Chief Instructors decide you need additional real-world seasoning before full national endorsement. We will answer requests from Chief Instructors wanting to verify your status as: Candidate has not passed our course.

Benefits: You can coach/instruct at HOD Northeast Track Days events as a regular coach under our supervision, registering with the same pricing and benefits that a regular coach would get.

Limitations: No national MSF Level 2 endorsement yet, so other clubs/organizations won't recognize or verify your status through the MSF registry. You're provisional in our system only.

Next steps: Coach at the required number of HOD events as needed to improve your skills and get the experience we think you will need. Once we observe consistent strong performance and confidence, we will upgrade you to Full MSF Level 2 certification and sign off with the Motorsport Safety Foundation. This provisional path is a practical way to develop promising instructors while maintaining high standards for national certification. It gives you hands-on experience under mentorship, which many find valuable before going "full" MSF2. There is no specified period for the granting of Full MSF2 to take place, it is at the discretion of Hooked On Driving Northeast Track Days.

Vehicle requirement You must bring a track-worthy vehicle equipped with a passenger seat that has restraints equal to those in the driver’s seat. A street-legal sedan or coupe is typically the best choice, as mentors will drive your vehicle while simulating typical HPDE students. Note: You will most likely not be able to drive on Saturday. If you successfully complete the class and earn full MSF2 certification, you may have the opportunity to drive on Sunday in our Mega Course HPDE session, where you would be assigned a student for the day. If you do not successfully complete the class, you will remain eligible to drive on Sunday.

Age Requirement: 18+

Safety & Technical

Helmets: SNELL SA2020 or newer. No Motorcycle (MA) helmets.
- Closed face helmets with visor are required for convertibles
- Helmets are available for rent at $50/day includes balaclava
- To purchase a helmet, visit our preferred vendor Stable Energies
- Harness / Safety Belts (Must be Valid in Date and not expired).
- If a vehicle is equipped with a Racing Seat, a Harness must be installed.
- Open Top Cars MUST have Drivers wear Full-Face Helmets with the Visor in the Down Position.
- SFI Padding must be placed around the entire rollbar in which a Drivers Helmet can come in contact with the rollbar.
- Convertibles must pass the broomstick test.
Clothing:
- Street Cars/full interiors: Short sleeves OK, long pants, closed-toe shoes.
- Race Cars/gutted interiors: FIA or SFI Rated race suit, gloves, race shoes – recommended.

Prohibited Vehicles: SUVs, trucks, motorcycles.

Tech Inspection: Vehicles must pass a self tech using our tech inspection form. Driver accepts all responsibility for bringing a track ready car to the event. Seats & restraints must be equal for passenger and driver. Refunds will not be given for mechanical failures or unprepared cars. You are solely responsible for bringing a track ready vehicle to the event.
Drivers Track Damage Responsibility: Drivers must cover any track damage or cleanup costs they cause; fees will be charged to the credit card on file on event day. If the track damage invoice is incomplete at event close, we may estimate damages. Refunds will be issued if our estimate exceeds actual damages. No Passengers other than HOD cleared Instructors are allowed in car at NJMP. Passengers allowed at other venues for solo cleared drivers. Passengers must have a passenger wrist band.
Passenger educational laps allowed with instructor driving – non registered participants must attain a passenger wristband at registration - $20.00
Convertible Policy: Must have fixed roll bar and meet “broomstick” test. Active roll bar systems must be deployed prior to going on track.
HANS Devices -A certified (SFI 38.1, FIA 8858 or newer) head and neck restraint device (HANS) MUST be used by all occupants of any car with an aftermarket harness and roll bar/cage system.

Amenities:

Paddock Space: For personal tents/canopies, trailers – Hooked On Driving is not responsible for lost or damaged property
Camping: Overnight available on-site, pay track directly, Electric service can be purchased at the track. Entrance to the paddock & trailer drop offs are allowed after 7:00 PM the night before the event. Contact Pocono directly at (800) 722-3929 to inquire about pre-event entry. All vehicles must leave the facility by 6:00 pm on the last day of the event.

Social BBQ: Will be held in the paddock after track goes cold Saturday night – Hot Dogs / Burgers / Sides will be provided by HOD NE. BYOB

Driver Track Ready Acceptance:

Drivers are hereby informed and acknowledge that refunds or credits, whether partial or full, will not be issued for any loss of track time arising from the presentation of a vehicle or equipment that is unprepared, unsafe, or mechanically deficient at the event.
